AKI staging (KDIGO)
Stages AKI on creatinine and urine output — whichever is worse decides the stage, which is the half people forget. Enter what you have; leave urine output blank if it is not being measured.
Before you use it
A stage is not a diagnosis. Stage 1 in someone shocked and anuric is more urgent than stage 3 in a stable outpatient, and the number does not know which you have. Baseline matters: using an admission creatinine that is already raised will UNDERSTAGE the injury. Always look for the obstruction and the drugs before settling on a cause.
