Before you use it
Not valid when creatinine is changing — in AKI the number is meaningless, because the equation assumes a steady state. Also unreliable at the extremes of muscle mass (amputees, body-builders, prolonged bed rest, malnutrition) and in pregnancy. For DRUG DOSING use Cockcroft-Gault or the dosing rule in the SPC, not this: eGFR is indexed to 1.73m² and is not the patient's actual clearance.
