Sodium correction ceiling
Deliberately not an infusion calculator. It answers one question — how high is this allowed to go — because that is the question that prevents osmotic demyelination, and a rate calculator invites the arithmetic to be trusted over the repeat blood test.
Before you use it
These are CEILINGS, not targets — there is no benefit in reaching them, and the safest correction of chronic hyponatraemia is the slowest one that relieves symptoms. Severe symptoms (seizures, coma) are the exception: hypertonic saline to raise sodium by about 5 mmol/L acutely, then stop and reassess. If you overshoot, that is an emergency in its own right and can be actively reversed — call renal or ITU.
